We work on the creation of novel control systems, sensors, industrial IoT devices, embedded modules, and custom electronic subsystems used in manufacturing, automation, energy, and other industrial applications. Note that we do not work on integration projects based on PLCs, large drives, or servos; that is the realm of industrial integration partners. We mainly work with OEMs that want to create novel solutions that can attach to those industrial projects. Examples include customized controllers that can wirelessly control large motors in a safe manner, high-torque but very compact servomotors driven by wireless interfaces, and smart cameras for food inspection – not a one-off system, but the OEM camera sensor and processing unit itself.
We support full product development as well as specific subsystems, such as pipeline leak sensors with radio interfaces, specialized gas sensors with wireless connectivity, or specialized process control units (in rubber manufacturing, high-speed printing). Many clients integrate our work into larger OEM platforms or industrial equipment as those projects become part of their specialized product portfolio.
We often do this when industrial customers have a new need. In many cases, they already have the basic principles worked out with EtherCAT PLCs, ADC boxes, I/O units, and servo drives or actuators. Their main problem is that the solution would cost a fortune if built entirely from industrial components. It is economical to do a custom design for these customers, since they typically want to scale to a few thousand units, and the savings can quickly add up to hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not more, over a small batch. We handle the many steps from prototype to enclosed units, and then through safety, electrical, and radio certification.
Yes, and it is becoming more common. Protocols such as LoRaWAN, BLE Coded PHY, and Wi-SUN can be used for IoT-enabled industrial solutions that allow machines and devices to communicate, collect data, and support remote monitoring or predictive maintenance. We can bridge CAN bus, EtherCAT, and radio mesh networks (even proprietary ones, if we have the specs and permission to do so). Our team is very familiar with adding remote access via cellular or even satellite links to equipment located in the field.
Yes, but we tend to focus on low-voltage electronic subsystems. Those tend to be powered by 5V, 12V, or 24V, and they are the foundation of industrial product controls. We do not design power electronics such as motor starters, servo drives, line rectification, or power factor correction systems. We know how those are integrated, but that type of work is more suited to industrial equipment design houses equipped with the tools to build panels and large electrical cabinets. We know a few of them in the region. They use different tools, and we collaborate with them when the system needs a full electrical cabinet with smart controls.
